Agenda Review – No Changes

Requested Information and Follow-up Presented

  • Baxter Community School District discontinued their 28E agreement with Collins-Maxwell.  They did not un-consolidate.  The Ames Tribune article was presented as an artifact to the separation along with an internet search.
  • Blakesburg Trust: Mr. Williamson spoke directly to Mr. Jon Cook who is the grandson of the individual who gifted the land to the city of Blakesburg to build a school.  Currently there is no paper trial to an official agreement that the land would become farmland if the school district were no longer using the land.  There may be documents as contents of a box that is probate and nobody knows what is inside.
  • The Trust search with Wapello County also brought forward other deeds in Blakesburg with regards to the school district and the city of Blakesburg that required document searches.  Results:
    • The school purchased land for $2,000 (baseball field) in 1973
    • The school Eddyville-Blakesburg school district performed a “Quick Claim Deed” in 1999 selling the land to Blakesburg for $1.
