Special Board Meeting Minutes
August 24, 2026

The Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont Community School District Board of Directors met at the District Offices in Eddyville on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. for a special board meeting. Visitor in attendance: Andy Heinle.

Call to Order: President Judy called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Roll call: Ed Glenn – present; Eric Klyn – present; Brianne Batterson – absent; Micah Van Mersbergen – present; Kyle Teach – present via Zoom; Tyrone Lobberecht – present; Tom Judy – present. Quorum established.

Approve Agenda: Van Mersbergen moved, and Glenn seconded, to approve the agenda. Motion carried unanimously.

Open Enrollment Request:

• Glenn moved, and Lobberecht seconded, to deny the open enrollment in request for Student 1 due to insufficient classroom space to add another student to the program while maintaining an appropriate educational environment and meeting the needs of the students currently served. Motion carried unanimously.
• Van Mersbergen moved, and Glenn seconded, to approve the open enrollment in request for Student 2 as the classroom sections at Eddyville Elementary are under recommended capacity as defined by the EBF Open Enrollment protocol.  Motion carried unanimously.

Discussion Items: Superintendent Williamson updated the board on the preliminary air quality testing results for the District Office. The insurance report is expected within the next couple of weeks and will help determine the extent of necessary repairs. At a minimum, wet insulation and the second vapor barrier will need to be removed, requiring removal and replacement of drywall. Depending on the final air quality findings, portions of the building may need to be isolated during remediation, which could require staff to temporarily work from another location. 

Adjournment: Lobberecht moved, and Van Mersbergen seconded, to adjourn the board meeting. Meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m.
